ABOUT THE DIRECTOR​

Juliana Henao is a sound designer, music producer, and film director of Colombian origin. She is especially interested in minority issues and strongly believes that raising awareness about these issues can contribute to bringing about change.
Listen to Us, her first documentary, is a personal project that explores the vast underrepresentation of women doing sound in the American film and TV industry. She feels connected to this situation as a female sound design student looking for role models, and she finds inspiration in the careers of women in this industry. Juliana is committed to bringing attention to this issue and celebrating the amazing things women have done with the hope of contributing to increasing women’s participation.
She is currently finishing her MFA in sound design at the Savannah College of Art and Design and will graduate in November. She hopes to keep telling stories and giving a voice to people who need it through documentaries.
